Only 43 percent of Americans know which party controls the House and Senate

Pop quiz: Do Democrats or Republicans control the Senate? What about the House?
If you answered both correctly (without cheating), then congratulations: You're among the 43 percent minority of American adults who can do so, according to a new Pew survey.
That figure is slightly down from the 45 percent of respondents who answered both questions correctly back in March. And with the midterms right around the corner, it's a helpful reminder that not everyone is paying close attention to Washington; Pew also found that just 29 percent of registered voters say they are following news about the elections "very closely."
