As the Ebola crisis worsens — the WHO reported today that the disease's death rate has risen to 70 percent — Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced that he and his wife Priscilla are donating $25 million to the CDC Foundation to help fight the Ebola epidemic.

In a Facebook post, Zuckerberg said the outbreak is at a "critical turning point," and added that his donation will help prevent the outbreak from becoming another global health crisis.

"Grants like this directly help the frontline responders in their heroic work. These people are on the ground setting up care centers, training local staff, identifying Ebola cases and much more," Zuckerberg wrote. "We are hopeful this will help save lives and get this outbreak under control."
