Et tu, Maggie? Gyllenhaal on Obama: 'I'm not sure what he believes in anymore'

Even the most strident supporters of Barack Obama are taking a step back as of late.

Most recent case in point? Maggie Gyllenhaal.

"I really believed in him, and I'm not sure what he believes in anymore," the actress, who is promoting her new Sundance miniseries The Honorable Woman, told Time magazine for its "10 Questions" page. "Look, I get it, I know. It's a complicated job. I could never do it. But I hope for a leader who will stand up and be unpopular."

Back in the "Yes We Can" era, Gyllenhaal stood out as one of Obama's biggest celebrity backers, donating $5,800 to the 2008 and 2012 campaigns, total.

"I still root for him," she adds. "But I feel a little hopeless right now."
