No face paint, no pizza, no fun?
Yesterday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani tweeted a picture of what is possibly the most solemn World Cup viewing party ever. He is seen sitting alone and staring at what appears to be a 32-inch television showing the Iran and Nigeria game — and he doesn't look all that into it. The snack selection looks just as dire (nuts, juice, and an empty plate?). The only sign of soccer spirit is the Iranian jersey he's wearing.
Since the game ended in a 0-0 tie, his sedate expression is totally warranted. Iran's next game is this weekend — hopefully his friends aren't all tied up with work. -- Jordan Valinsky
