Dublin Airport would like to remind you it's St. Paddy's Day, not St. Patty's Day

If you're going to pretend that you're Irish for St. Patrick's Day, the least you can do is act like you know something about it. The Dublin airport's helpful social media team posted an explainer on its Facebook account warning people to never call the holiday St. Patty's Day or Patty's Day, since Patty is short for Patricia. Those monikers don't apply because St. Patrick was a man.

You can, however, still use St. Paddy's Day or Paddy's Day as abbreviations. The message was aimed at ignorant Americans and Canadians who are improperly using the phrases. "Using the power of your network, hopefully we can banish the scourge of St Patty once and for all," the fogra (Gaelic for notice) reads.

Good luck remembering all of that when you're drunk. --Jordan Valinsky
