Up until Thursday, the race for the Democratic nomination was largely a "coronation" of Hillary Clinton, Jon Stewart said on Thursday's Daily Show. Then, up stepped Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), "two-term senator, six-term congressman, full-term curmudgeon."
How, exactly, is a man with almost zero name recognition going to "battle the incredibly powerful Clinton machine?" Stewart asked, showing a clip from Sanders', um, terse campaign announcement. "With charm!" So far, the message is "not so much 'Yes We Can,' and more like "Let's Get This Over With, I'm a Busy Man'," Stewart said. Clinton left an opening for a challenger with the questionable donations to the Clinton Foundation, he noted, but Sanders is first going to have to move the dial from "Bernie who? From Ver-what?" to at least "Are you Larry David's dad?" —Peter Weber
