Chipotle to extend paid time off, sick leave to part-time workers
Starting July 1, all full-time and part-time hourly employees of Chipotle Mexican Grill will begin receiving benefits like paid vacation and sick days and tuition reimbursement, the company has announced. Previously, these benefits were only available to salaried employees. Chipotle cited a desire to recruit more qualified workers, as well as to target more high school and college students for entry-level positions. The move comes amid nationwide pressure for fast food chains to improve working conditions and wages for their workers. Chipotle employs over 48,000 hourly employees.
