U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter confirmed that the United States would be placing 250 tanks, artillery pieces, and other fighting vehicles in seven Eastern European countries as a deterrent against possible Russian aggression. Bulgaria, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland and Romania will act as hosts.
NATO is additionally in the process of bolstering a rapid-response defense force in region.
