Windsurfing in a sandstorm? You probably shouldn't try this at home.
Despite the enormous, deadly, out-of-season sandstorm sweeping through Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Israel, the West Bank, Gaza, and Egypt this week, many in the Middle East don't seem to be dissuaded from going about their normal activities.
The "unprecedented" sandstorm has prompted school closings in Jordan and Lebanon, and Israel's Environmental Protection Ministry has warned people to stay indoors. But life must go on amid the eerie, sepia-toned landscape. Below, a collection of photos of life amid the storm. Jeva Lange
