Apparently not even Andy Samberg giving away a functional HBO password on live TV could save Sunday night's 67th Primetime Emmy Awards. With 11.9 million viewers tuning into Fox, according to early Nielsen estimates, the 2015 Emmys are the least-watched edition on record, Variety reports.
That's down nearly 4 million from 2014's show, which aired on NBC. Network aside, other factors were at play: Samberg & Co. were up against a Sunday night NFL game, while last year's broadcast aired on a Monday night in late August. It's possible the 1974 Emmys fared even worse than 2015, but Nielsen doesn't have the stats to prove it.
The Emmys are reportedly only the sixth most popular awards show of the past year, trailing the Oscars, Grammys, Golden Globes, CMAs, and ACMs.
