The Daily Show laughs at the Republican efforts to 'baby-proof' the debates and the election

The Republican presidential candidates talk tough about ISIS and Russia and, in Jeb Bush's case, eating nails for breakfast, Trevor Noah said on Tuesday's Daily Show. So "what happened at the CNBC debate that transformed this crew from The Expendables into the cast of Scooby-Doo?" He showed some clips of various Republican candidates complaining about CNBC's "gotcha" questions and, especially, what they called the double standard between the hardball questions they got and the softies lobbed at Hillary Clinton and the Democrats.

Noah had a good question: "Did anybody watch the Democratic debate? Because those were not nice questions." And he had video footage to prove it. The point is, he said, the Democrats got tough questions, too, and they didn't complain, "but the Republicans are now trying to baby-proof the election, from top to bottom." After laughing at some GOP demands for future debates — especially about bathroom breaks — Noah laid out the bottom line: "Look, Republicans, toughen up," he advised. "If you're trying to become president, you can't be afraid to deal with tough questions, because that's all the president does." Watch below. Peter Weber
