Pete Rose, baseball's all-time hit leader, will remain barred from the Majors, the league announced Monday.
It's been more than a quarter-century since Rose, now 74, was permanently booted on charges of betting on games while he managed the Cincinnati Reds, including matchups involving his own team. There's also evidence to suggest he did the same as a player.
The infamous Charlie Hustle, who has since copped to some of the accusations against him, has applied for reinstatement to the league three times, most recently in March. MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred's decision to uphold the lifetime ban means Rose will still have no shot at earning a place in Cooperstown.
