Couple celebrates opening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens by getting married at the movie theater
The only thing traditional about this wedding was the bride wearing white — although her dress was emblazoned with handmade crystal X-Wing starfighters.
Australians Caroline Ritter, 34, and Andrew Porters, 29, are major Star Wars fans, and when the release date for The Force Awakens was announced 18 months ago, they immediately booked a trip to Hollywood, The Wrap reports. They arrived on Dec. 5 and got in line for the first showing, joining 130 other people already ahead of them. Before they could see the movie on opening night, however, they wanted to get married.
Working with the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, the couple married in front of their closest friends — Chewbacca, R2-D2, several Jedi Knights, and a Stormtrooper. Darth Vader walked Ritter down the aisle to the strains of "The Imperial March," and a friend who goes by "Obi-Shawn" officiated. The reception wasn't held at an out-of-this-world cantina, but rather at the theater, complete with Dunkin' Donuts and a Baskin-Robbins ice cream cake festooned with the couple's favorite Star Wars characters.
