A caricature artist working at Universal Orlando Resort has been charged with attempted murder, after authorities say he chased a colleague around the Islands of Adventure park on New Year's Day and stabbed him in the head with a pair of scissors.

Police say Frederick Torres, 33, allegedly attacked Glenn Ferguson, 42, one day after he was fired. The men both work for an outside firm, and WESH reports that after being let go, Torres told his boss he planned to kill the firm's "number one artist," meaning Ferguson.

Witnesses in Toon Lagoon said they saw Torres running after Ferguson, stopping after a security guard got between them, NBC News reports. Then, Torres lunged at Ferguson and stabbed him in the left temple. Other witnesses said they also saw Torres kicking and punching Ferguson. Ferguson was rushed to an area hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
