The trial for the Baltimore police officer who drove the van Freddie Gray was injured in, set to start Monday, has been postponed by a Maryland appeals court, ABC News reports.
Gray, an unarmed black man, died in April after suffering a fatal spinal cord injury while in police custody. Six officers, including driver Caesar R. Goodson Jr., have been charged in his death. The court is still deciding whether William Porter, whose case ended in a December mistrial, should have to testify against Goodson. Porter has argued testifying would violate his right to not incriminate himself.
Goodson is the only one of the officers charged who has not spoken to investigators about the incident. He was charged with second-degree murder for his alleged role in not strapping a shackled Gray into the van, and not calling an ambulance when Gray asked for medical help.
