Donald Trump and John Kasich are tied in Ohio on eve of crucial primary

Donald Trump and Ohio Gov. John Kasich are in for a long fight in the Buckeye State Tuesday night. A new Quinnipiac University poll released Monday — one day before the primary in Kasich's home state — shows Kasich and Trump tied, each with 38 percent support. That marks a 6-point jump for Kasich since the last Ohio Quinnipiac poll released March 9, while Trump has remained steady at 38 percent.
"Ohio is a real contest on both sides," Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll, said. "Trump and Gov. John Kasich are in a dead heat for the Buckeye State's GOP delegates."
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) trails far behind in Ohio with 16 percent, while Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) only snags 3 percent. The poll, which surveyed 721 likely Republican primary voters in Ohio, has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.7 percentage points.
