The closer California's Democratic presidential primary gets, the narrower Hillary Clinton's lead over Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in the Golden State becomes. A new Field Poll released Thursday reveals that Sanders is now a mere 6 points behind Clinton in California. Just a few months ago in January, Clinton held a comfortable 11-point lead over the Vermont senator.
While Clinton still has a slim advantage among Latino voters (49 percent to Sanders' 42 percent) and a strong 39-point lead among African-American voters, she lags far behind Sanders among the younger crowds. Among those between the ages of 18 and 29, Sanders leads by a whopping 59 points, and among voters in their 30s, Sanders leads Clinton by 25 points.
California's Democratic primary is slated for June 7. The Field Poll, conducted among 584 likely Democratic voters from March 24 to April 4, has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
