Iraqi special forces say they have now entered the center of Fallujah and are battling to take it back. Fallujah has been held by the Islamic State for two years, and is the last major western city in Iraq that ISIS still controls. Iraqi forces have already reclaimed a neighborhood that had been used as a base for militants.

The forces entered the city with air support from the U.S.-led coalition, including the Iraqi air force. Special forces commander Haidar al-Obeidi told The Associated Press that they have now turned their attention to besieging a central hospital and are fighting off ISIS snipers in the surrounding buildings.
