To Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine, Donald Trump's child care plan feels like a relic of the past. During a roundtable event Thursday in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Kaine criticized Trump's newly proposed plan, which includes six weeks paid maternity leave, for not taking fathers into consideration.

"Maternity leave has kind of a 1990s feel to it. It's not 2016," Kaine said. "Because in 2016 not only do women take off to take care of kids when they're born, but men do too." Moreover, Kaine noted, because of how Trump's plan uses "unemployment insurance, it doesn't really protect your income."
