Curb Your Enthusiasm will return for its ninth season this fall, HBO announced Monday. The Larry David-driven comedy series, which premiered in 2000, went on hiatus after its eighth season finished in 2011.

The typically curmudgeonly tagline — "He left. He did nothing. He returned" — might offer a tantalizing answer.
