Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) welcomed a baby girl Monday, becoming the first sitting senator to give birth while in office, The Hill reports. Duckworth's original announcement, from January, is pretty darn adorable:
Maile Pearl Bowlsbey is Duckworth and her husband Brian Bowlsbey's second child. Duckworth said in a series of tweets that Maile's name was blessed by former Hawaiian Sen. Daniel Akaka (D), who died last week. "[H]is help in naming both of our daughters means he will always be with us," she said.
