This longtime Jeopardy! host suggested he was "out there in the Afro-American community as a brother" when he sported an afro and a dark tan in the 1980s.
Unfortunately, "Who is Alex Trebek?" is the correct response.
In an interview with TMZ founder Harvey Levin for Fox News, Trebek treaded into questionable territory when describing his appearance on a United Negro College Fund telethon. Trebek said he ran into Gregory Hines, a black dancer who also famously sported a mustache. Someone approached Trebek afterward, and said, "I saw you and your brother talking a few minutes ago," implying Trebek and Hines were related.

Trebek then turned the stranger's mistake into his own. "Now keep in mind, at this stage in my career I had the afro, I had the mustache, and a very dark tan," the white Canadian man explained, and raised his fist as he continued. "I'm out there in the Afro-American community as a brother."
I'll take "cringeworthy comments" for $1,000, Alex.
