Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) ran uncontested in her Democratic primary on Tuesday, but three Republicans battled in the GOP primary to challenge her in November, and the winner was conservative state Rep. Geoff Diehl. Diehl, who was President Trump's 2016 Massachusetts co-chairman, is best known in the state for helping repeal a gas tax, and his slogan was "Make Warren Teach Again." He and his two GOP rivals spent a combined $8.4 million in the race, but Warren is the heavy favorite in the general election.
Democrats chose former state finance and administration secretary Jay Gonzales to face off against Gov. Charlie Baker (R), a moderate who easily fended off a primary challenge from anti-gay rights activist Scott Lively.
