Triplets studying medicine at same Chicago school where their parents trained
For aspiring doctors Martin Walsh, Kevin Walsh, and Emily Walsh, studying at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine is almost like a homecoming.
The Walsh triplets were born at Loyola 26 years ago, and it's also the same place where their parents attended med school. Kevin is now in his fourth year at Loyola, while Martin is in his second and Emily is in her first. Kevin told WGN he remembers his parents coming home and showing them cards from grateful patients, and "seeing those interactions really drew me and I think all of us in medicine, to see how important being that doctor in somebody's life meant."
One person at the hospital knows every member of the Walsh family: Dr. John Muraskas. "Mom, Dad, and I met 40 years ago at Loyola starting med school, and then I was at the delivery of the triplets 26 years ago," he said. "And here they are 26 years old and looking great." The triplets don't know where they'll go after graduation, but Martin said he'd feel "pretty lucky to end up back here with all these people we've known our whole lives."
