Amazon is sending out postcards to its 'future neighbors' in New York

Hello, new friends. Amazon would like to be welcomed to the neighborhood.

Jeff Bezos and company will be arriving in the New York City neighborhood of Long Island City in the near future, and Amazon has sent out postcards to its "future neighbors" letting them know just what to expect.

The postcard basically repeats what Amazon published in a pledge and ran in print newspaper ads over the weekend. Building its second headquarters in Queens will create 25,000 new jobs over 10 years, the postcard says, which is sure to add more traffic to New York's overcrowded subways than a new family upstairs. And it'll create $27 billion in state and local tax revenue, which presumably doesn't include the $1.5 billion in tax breaks Amazon got in exchange for picking Queens, something New Yorkers are largely cool with.

The postcard encourages New Yorkers to contact their city council about the HQ2 deal, which the council doesn't exactly support. But Amazon doesn't need approval from the council or some co-op board anyway, The New York Times notes.
