As expected, the House on Tuesday evening passed a one-page, 80-word resolution to terminate President Trump’s southern border emergency declaration.

The final tally was 245 to 182, with 13 Republicans joining Democrats to pass the measure.

The resolution is still dependent on the Senate vote, which will occur sometime within the next 18 days. Republicans hold a majority, but three members of the Senate G.O.P. — Susan Collins (Maine), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Thom Tillis (N.C.) — have already stated their intention to support the bill, meaning only one more Republican would need to jump ship in order to force Trump to decide whether or not he'll bring out his veto pen. The votes in the House fell short of the two-thirds necessary to override a veto.
