The White House announced Tuesday President Trump will nominate Jessie K. Liu, the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, to become associate attorney general.
This is the No. 3 job at the Justice Department, overseeing civil litigation. Liu, 46, was part of President Trump's transition team, and was confirmed to her current position in 2017. She is a graduate of Yale Law School and previously worked as an assistant U.S. attorney and deputy assistant attorney general in the civil rights division. In a statement, Attorney General William Barr called Liu a "first-class attorney."
