An Aeroflot jet with 73 passengers and five crew members on board burst into flames on Sunday evening after making an emergency landing in Moscow, Russian officials said.

At least 40 people have died, including one crew member and two teenagers, Russia's Investigative Committee said. The plane, an SSJ100 bound for Murmansk, took off from Sheremetyevo Airport, and had to return due to an unspecified technical issue, The Associated Press reports. Russian media says the plane didn't have enough time to dump fuel before the landing, and flames were first spotted on the underside of the jet after it landed and then bounced.
