Compared to the rest of the world, North America is doing the most to combat climate change

North America is leading the charge in enacting policies to combat climate change.
CDP, a nonprofit focusing on building sustainable economies, released an "A List" report detailing the top cities around the world that are taking action on climate change. Out of 600 cities surveyed, only 43 received an "A," over half of which were in North America.
Liberal hotspots like Seattle, Denver and Toronto made the "A list," as well as a slew of cities in California concentrated in the Bay Area. But there were some surprises as well. West Palm Beach, Florida scored a top rating, and the Midwest was represented with Minneapolis, Indianapolis and Cleveland.

CDP compiles a database detailing a city's plans to cut carbon emissions or otherwise minimize the impact of climate change and then compares the findings with other municipalities, reports CBS News. The U.S. had the highest representation by a single country on the list, with 21 countries achieving an A. Of course, the U.S. is also among the world's top contributors to global carbon emissions, second only to China, so maybe we shouldn't pat ourselves on the back just yet.
