Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) had to be rescued on Thursday while hiking in Arizona, after he hurt his ankle and was unable to walk on his own.
Moran, 65, was hiking on Camelback Mountain in Phoenix when he was injured. Firefighters used a "big wheel" to bring Moran down the mountain, a Phoenix Fire Department spokesman told The Arizona Republic, and he received medical attention.
Moran was in Arizona to discuss border issues with Drug Enforcement Administration officials. His spokesperson, Morgan Said, released a statement saying Moran is "in good spirits and extends his thanks to the Phoenix Fire Department for assisting him this morning. Sen. Moran looks forward to resuming his work for Kansas tomorrow."
