Apple wants to make slow-mo self-portraits — and the word 'slofies' — a thing

Apple at its latest iPhone event unleashed the unfortunate new word "slofies," its term for slow-motion selfies, upon unsuspecting viewers everywhere.
The company officially announced on Tuesday the iPhone 11, its new dual-camera smartphone. It comes equipped with one wide camera and one ultra-wide camera, and Apple touted it as having the "highest quality video ever in a smartphone."
And how might the iPhone 11's powerful new technology be put to use? Apparently, taking something called a "slofie."

During its presentation, Apple showed a whole video dedicated to the exciting ability to take slow-motion selfies, using the most unappealing example imaginable and ending its promo by slapping the word "slofie" on screen for all to shudder at and tweet their horror about.
Other features for the iPhone 11 touted by Apple included the ability to take photos of your pets with portrait mode; thankfully, however, it resisted the temptation to attempt to coin the word "petrait." For true slofie believers, the iPhone 11 will cost $699 and will be available for pre-order on Sept. 13.
