'Stay With Me' singer Sam Smith reveals preferred they/them gender pronouns

Sam Smith is boldly setting the record straight.
Smith came out as nonbinary/genderqueer earlier this year, but at the time said they would keep using he/him pronouns. But in a Twitter thread on Friday, the "Stay With Me" singer announced they would be "changing my pronouns to they/them after a lifetime of being at war with my gender."
In a March interview, Smith said they are "not male or female. I think I float somewhere in between." They had "always been very free in terms of thinking about sexuality," and decided at the time to come out as genderqueer, describing that as meaning "you do not identify in a gender." And on Friday, Smith took that announcement a step further.
