Jurassic World 3 is bringing back Laura Dern, Sam Neill, and Jeff Goldblum

Well, there it is.
Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum are officially returning to the Jurassic Park franchise in Jurassic World 3, Universal Pictures has confirmed. This will be the first time their trio of characters — Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, and Ian Malcom — has reunited since the original 1993 film.
While Goldblum returned to star in The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Neill and Dern sat that 1997 sequel out. Neill then starred in Jurassic Park III, which Dern had a small role in, but Goldblum didn't appear. Since the franchise was rebooted in 2015, only Goldblum has appeared in the new Jurassic World series with a small role in 2018's Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

That's probably because it's been difficult to come up with reasons the characters would realistically return to the island again for their second or third time, but the series has now moved completely off Isla Nublar, with the third Jurassic World set to follow dinosaurs loose on the mainland. Basically, Jurassic Park couldn't find a way to bring the trio back to the island, so it brought the island to them. Fans can only hope the filmmakers while thinking about whether or not they could also thought about whether they should.
All three stars will have a "sizable" role in the film, Collider reports, which also sees the return of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, as well as Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow. Life will find a way once again when the film hits theaters in June 2021.
