One suspect in Dallas shootings confirmed dead

Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings said Friday morning that one suspect in the Dallas shootings has been confirmed dead, following a standoff with police. Rawlings said that officers used explosives to "blast him out" and that the suspect was "taken out" by the explosive device. "We were very happy when we ware able to take this one suspect out," Rawlings said. Three other suspects have reportedly been taken into custody.
Dallas Police Chief David Brown said early Friday that 12 police officers and two civilians were shot after four people "triangulated" a peaceful protest against officer-related shootings Thursday night. Five officers have died.
