Katie Couric complained about Matt Lauer inappropriately pinching her back in 2012
Katie Couric revealed back in 2012 that her then co-host of the Today show, Matt Lauer, had an annoying habit. "He pinches me on the ass a lot," she said in a clip from Bravo's Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen that was resurfaced by Page Six. Couric and Lauer anchored the Today show together from January 1997 to May 2006.
On Wednesday, five years after Couric's remark, NBC fired Lauer over a sexual harassment allegation. A female staffer filed a complaint with NBC's human resources division on Monday about Lauer's inappropriate conduct during the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, The New York Times reports.
In a memo to staffers, NBC chairman Andy Lack wrote, “While it is the first complaint about his behavior in the over 20 years he's been at NBC News, we were also presented with reason to believe this may not have been an isolated incident.” You don't say.
