David Beckham lined up to join Real Madrid Galactico reunion
Golden Balls tasked with improving the Spanish club's image in the US, as Los Blancos recruit former superstars
The "unparalleled pulling power" of David Beckham could prompt Real Madrid to sign up their former midfielder as the club's new ambassador in the United States, claims The Sun.
The paper, quoting Spanish sources, claims that the European champions are on the brink of making a "sensational" move to sign up Golden Balls as they look to broaden their brand appeal Stateside.
Beckham joined Real Madrid from Manchester United in 2003, spending four seasons at the Bernabeu before signing for LA Galaxy in 2007. He then went onto to achieve cult status in Los Angeles and it's that appeal that Real are apparently seeking to exploit by making Becks their ambassador. It's believed Real president Florentino Perez is behind the ambitious plan, part of a strategy to "bring all of the former Galacticos back to the club in a number of roles".

Becks former teammate at Real, Zinedine Zidane, replaced Rafa Benitez as manager last season, guiding them to a Champions Cup title six months later, and Brazilian stars Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo are also back at the Bernabeu with Raul also being lined up.
And according to the Sun, Real are desperate to have Beckham spearhead their campaign to make them the best known European club in the States although the former England captain "has not yet agreed to take on the role."
That might be because Beckham is still hoping to establish his own MLS franchise in Miami, Florida although he is currently struggling to find investors after his initial stadium proposals collapsed. Latest reports from across the Pond claim that Becks is in talks with Wesley Edens, co-chairman of Fortress Investment Group and an owner of the Milwaukee Bucks NBA franchise, about the feasibility of building a 25,000-seater stadium in Miami.
