    SATURDAY, SYRIA: A Syrian gamer uses the Pokemon Go application on his mobile to catch a Pokemon amidst the rubble in the besieged rebel-controlled town of Douma, a flashpoint east of the capital Damascus.

    SATURDAY, ENGLAND:

    Jousting re-enactment takes place at Framlingham Castle. English Heritage have launched a petition calling for jousting to be made an Olympic sport.

    SUNDAY, USA: A burning oak in Placerita Canyon at the Sand Fire in Santa Clarita, California. Triple-digit temperatures and dry conditions are fuelling the wildfire, which has burned across at least 32,000 acres so far and is only 10% contained.

    SUNDAY, FRANCE: Chris Froome of Great Britain and Team Sky (yellow jersey) and the rest of the peloton cycle past The Arc de Triomphe during stage twenty one of the 2016 Le Tour de France, from Chantilly to Paris Champs-Elysees.

    An extreme cycling enthusiast performs a stunt with a bicycle before falling into the East Lake in Wuhan, Hubei province, China. This activity, which requires participants to ride their bikes and jump into the lake, attracts many extreme cycling enthusiasts from the city.

    MONDAY, ENGLAND: This giant 12-metre tall Man Engine is unveiled to the public in Tavistock. Claimed to be the largest mechanical puppet made in Britain, standing at three times the height of a double decker bus, it has been created to mark the tenth anniversary of the date when the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape was added to the Unesco list of World Heritage Sites. Starting today it will journey to the the mining world heritage sites accompanied by more than a dozen 'miners' and traditional 'bal-maidens' who have the job of animating the steam-powered giant.

    TUESDAY, UAE: Solar Impulse2, the solar powered plane, piloted by Swiss pioneer Bertrand Piccard is seen prior to the landing in Abu Dhabi to finish the first around the world flight without the use of fuel.

    WEDNESDAY, ENGLAND:

    A young boy dressed as a policeman plays in Guilhall Yard during an opening day celebrating 175 years of policing. The open day featured police horses, dogs, cars and motorbikes.

    THURSDAY, USA:

    A man dressed a Jesus stands in a water fountain at City Hall on day four of the Democratic National Convention (DNC). The convention officially began on Monday and has attracted thousands of protesters, members of the media and Democratic delegates to the city.
