Trump, Brexit, fake news, alternative facts, the post-truth age… It's plainly more important than ever to take time out in order to understand the altered world around us. The Also Festival, which runs from 30 June to 2 July in the idyllic surroundings of the Warwickshire countryside, promises just that, with a weekend of talks, debates and performances covering science, psychology, philosophy, the arts and more.
Founded by Juliet Russell and Helen Bagnall – the team behind the popular Salon London – Also's fourth edition brings together a diverse group of experts to provide interesting insights on everyday life as well as left-field takes on the big issues of today, from geneticist Dr Adam Rutherford discussing to what extent we are all immigrants to technology blogger and author Jamie Bartlett on why we need radicals. Clinical psychologist Dr Bergljot Gjelsvik will question whether mindfulness actually works, psychotherapist and author Philippa Perry delves into what our dreams are telling us and philosopher Roman Krznaric explains why we should reclaim the phrase "carpe diem" in our approach to life.
Beyond intellectual stimulation, Also provides an opportunity to relax away from the distractions of the everyday. Visitors can take unleash their inner creativity with workshops designed to connect with nature, ranging from floristry, photography and perfumery, while elsewhere they have laid on a diverse line-up of musical performances.

Similar attention has been paid to sustenance over the three days; the main event will be Saturday night's Truth or Dare banquet, an immersive theatrical and visual experience accompanied by an innovative tasting menu, while other appetising options include the Balearic Brunch, bringing a taste of the fresh and vibrant seafood of Ibiza, and the Midsummer Night's Dream restaurant, serving dishes featuring locally sourced ingredients.
