Summer time: Eight of the best colourful women's watches
Whether you opt for a dial of precious stones or a neon strap, choose one of these timepieces in a bright hue for a spin on a classic
Bulgari Serpenti
The Serpenti has long been an emblem of the Italian jeweller, with its snake-inspired shape transformed into all manner of watch designs over the decades. Now, the power is in the customer's hands to create the timepiece of their dreams, as this year Bulgari has launched a new customisation service online. Taking a 27mm-diameter Serpenti case as a starting point, first choose from steel or pink gold – with or without added bling – before moving on to picking one of six dial options, ranging from classic white mother-of-pearl to more daring coloured lacquers. The real fun comes when selecting the perfect strap to match – the stylish double-twirl design comes in a selection of complementary hues made from karung leather or calfskin.

Chopard Happy Sport
This sporty timepiece is a staple of Chopard's offering for women, and its latest visual overhaul injects a joie de vivre that's in keeping with its name. The watchmaker's co-president and artistic director, Caroline Scheufele, has dreamed up a vibrant array of straps in bold purple, anise green and bright pink, which can be mixed and matched depending on your mood. Designed to be paired with the 30mm and 36mm diameter models, which come supplied with black and white rubber straps as standard, they can be easily configured at home via the do-it-yourself strap changing system.
Dior La Mini D de Dior Wraparound
At 19mm in diameter this miniature take on Dior's signature timepiece may be petite, but makes a big statement on the wrist. Decked out in bright and daring hot pink, the fluorescent colour extends from the eye-catching patent leather wraparound strap to the dainty lacquered dial, finished with a delicate smattering of diamonds.
Nomos Neomatik Signalrot
Part of the German watchmaker's new Aqua range, this latest version of its ultra-precise Neomatik is water resistant to 200 metres, ideal for fret-free relaxation by the pool. Unusually for a diving watch, however, this unisex model eschews the normal rugged and sporty aesthetic and instead channels the best of Bauhaus design, with a minimalist dial that comes in a bold red.
Glashutte Original Pavonina
Since its launch in 2013, Glashutte Original's Pavonina collection has won favour thanks to its elegant, curved cushion-shaped case and ingenious mechanism that enables the wearer to swap straps at their whim. Its latest guise sees chic Roman numerals delicately applied to an iridescent mother-of-pearl dial, while you can stamp your personality on the watch with your choice of bright and beautiful straps in alligator leather or calfskin.
Boucheron Reflet
The Art Deco-inspired Reflet is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, a testament to the timeless style of this distinctive and clever design. Its calling card is its patented invisible clasp mechanism; either side of the case features a tube into which you can slide the end of the strap, making them easily changeable on the go. For 2017, Boucheron has launched eight new coloured strap options, giving you the choice to opt for snazzy metallics, eye-catching neons or demure pastels depending on what the outfit demands.
Chaumet Hortensia Eden
The Parisian jeweller has looked to nature for its latest women's collection, which derives its colour from beautiful, vivid stones, ensuring every piece is unique. The dainty and feminine watch comes in a range of dial options, from deep blue lapis lazuli and green-hued malachite to pretty pink opal, complemented by an array of different lizard-skin or satin strap options.
Zenith Elite Lady Moonphase
This playful timepiece is the ultimate combination of beauty and brains; powered by Zenith's ultra-thin Elite Calibre 692, the movement ensures the utmost precision while guaranteeing a 50-hour power reserve. The pared-back dial design, which features a subtle moon phase at 6 o'clock, has been given a vibrant makeover, with four adventurous colour variations – blue, green, yellow and red – complemented by perfectly matched straps.
