Ambulance confirms casualties after crash between plane and helicopter over grounds of Waddesdon Manor

Several people are understood to have been killed in a mid-air collision involving a plane and a helicopter over the Buckinghamshire village of Waddesdon, near Aylesbury.

The incident occurred just after midday today and debris from both aircraft is believed to have landed in the estate grounds of nearby Waddesdon Manor. Emergency vehicles have arrived at the scene, reports the Daily Telegraph.

A Thames Valley Police spokesman said: “Officers are currently at the scene of an air accident near the village of Waddesdon near Aylesbury.

“The force is coordinating the response to the incident which was reported at 12.06pm today.

“Fire and ambulance services are also in attendance and preservation of life is first priority.”

“Sources said that it was believed there were multiple casualties, including fatalities,” the Telegraph adds. The Daily Mail and Metro are both reporting that there were “no survivors” from the crash, but this has not been verified.

Both aircraft are understood to have started their journeys at Wycombe Air Park, near High Wycombe, which is used by “gliders, rotary wing aircraft and vintage aircraft”, and offers flight training, according to its website.
