Higuain: the Premier League fascinates me
Juventus and Argentina striker Gonzalo Higuain has put England’s top-flight clubs on red alert after admitting that he would “love to play in the Premier League” one day.
The 30-year-old, who is in Argentina’s World Cup squad, has a contract with Juventus until 2021 but last month was linked with a move to Chelsea.

When asked where his future lies, Higuain told ESPN in Argentina: “I have a contract with Juventus and no one has communicated anything different. I’m very calm, my soul stays in Turin for now. But I would love to play in the Premier League, it fascinates me a lot.”
The Daily Mail reported in May that Higuain had been offered to Chelsea by Juventus. The Italian club want to re-sign Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata and Higuain could go to Stamford Bridge as part of a potential deal.
Barcelona target Lemar instead of Eriksen
Barcelona were previously linked with a move for Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen, but it appears the Spanish giants now see Monaco’s Thomas Lemar “as the preferred candidate to upgrade their midfield”. Lemar, a target for Arsenal and Liverpool in the past, could cost Barcelona between £60m and £80m. Spurs would demand a higher fee for Danish star Eriksen. (Daily Mirror)
Evans signs for Leicester City
Jonny Evans has today completed a £3.5m transfer from West Brom to Leicester City. The Northern Ireland defender, 30, has signed a three-year contract and said it was a move he “couldn’t turn down”. Leicester boss Claude Puel is delighted with the signing and calls Evans “a winner and a leader”. (BBC)
Palace want £70m for Zaha
Tottenham look likely to end their interest in Wilfried Zaha after it was reported that Crystal Palace want £70m for the Ivory Coast international. The forward, 25, signed a five-year £110,000-a-week deal with Palace last year. (Daily Mail)
Jack Grealish: Aston Villa to Tottenham
Spurs are lining up a bid for Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish. After failing to get promoted the Championship club look likely to offload their star players because of financial issues. But Villa have insisted Grealish won’t be sold for anything less than £40m. (The Daily Telegraph)
Felipe Anderson: Lazio to West Ham
West Ham are hopeful a deal can be struck with Lazio for midfielder Felipe Anderson. The Italian club value the 25-year-old at €50m (£44m). (Sky Sports)
Toure set for east London?
West Ham are also in talks with former Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure. The Ivory Coast star, 35, is without a club after being released by the Premier League champions and is “keen to be reunited with ex-City boss Manuel Pellegrini at London Stadium”. (Daily Mail)
Marko Arnautovic: West Ham to Manchester United
While West Ham aim to bring Felipe Anderson and Yaya Toure to east London, one player they hope to keep is Marko Arnautovic. The Hammers have put a £60m price tag on the Austrian striker, who has been linked with Manchester United. (Daily Mirror)
Toby Alderweireld: Tottenham to Manchester United
Negotiations between United and Tottenham are “deadlocked” over the possible transfer of defender Toby Alderweireld. Spurs want more than £55m for the Belgian international. (London Evening Standard)
