Good day, Bad day
Belt tightening, Googling ‘monopoly’
GOOD DAY FOR: Belt tightening, after British celebrity chef Jamie Oliver urged Britons to help their wallets and waistlines by choosing to cook healthy meals at home rather than eating fast food. Oliver urged Parliament to promote cooking classes for Britain’s culinary-challenged populace before it’s too late. “If we leave it, it will be like America,” he said. (Reuters)
BAD DAY FOR: Googling ‘monopoly’, after the Internet giant pulled out of its proposed advertising deal with Yahoo. The deal, in which Google placed ads on Yahoo’s site, failed to win support from U.S. antitrust regulators. It is the first time that Google has walked away from an attempt to extend its dominance of the Internet. (Bloomberg)
