This sleek suspension lamp is revolutionizing office lighting
Meet Dyson's Cu-Beam Duo
"Jake Dyson, son of inventor and noted vacuum maker Sir James Dyson, is taking on the lighting industry," said Margaret Rhodes at Wired. The industrial-design scion is the brains behind a sleek suspension lamp that promises to replace the harsh, overly bright lighting in most offices with a more customizable approach. Cu-Beam Duo delivers "precise parcels of light in specific directions," making it possible to change the quality and distribution of light throughout the day.
For example, you could switch to softer lighting during a job interview so candidates don't "feel like they're under an interrogation lamp," or ramp up direct light during brainstorming sessions. The Cu-Beam Duo is set for release next year. Although it doesn't have a price yet, other Dyson-designed lamps cost $1,999 apiece. Despite the hefty price tag, the lamp is made to last, staying lit for up to 37 years of working hours.
