Today’s front pages: ‘Lyra’s Legacy’ and IndyRef2
A round-up of headlines in UK newspapers on 25 April
Many of today’s front pages include images from the funeral of Lyra McKee, the 29-year-old journalist shot dead by a Republican militant in Londonderry, with Metro commemorating “Lyra’s Legacy”.
The Daily Telegraph and The Times give their front pages over to row over Chinese telecom giant Huawei’s potential role in developing the UK’s 5G network, with The Times focussing on the ire of security chiefs after a report of a confidential meeting with MPs was leaked to the press.
Unsurprisingly, newspapers north of the border devoted their attention to First Minister Nicola Sturgeon’s plans for a second Scottish independence referendum by May 2021 if Britain exits the EU without a deal.
