Predictably, the irony was not lost on Twitter.

Labour candidate Faisal Rashid, who is standing in Warrington South, couldn't resist making some political capital out of the incident.
"Clearly, it is neither strong nor stable and is a symbol of Theresa May and the Tories' weak and wobbly campaign," he told the Warrington Guardian.
Warming to his theme, he added: "The Tories have chosen a shambolic way to get across an unreliable and flimsy message."
