Residents of Queens, New York, are facing a rise in attacks by squirrels. "They have been randomly attacking people - attacking is anywhere from jumping onto them to scratching and biting aggressively,” said one resident. "We don't know why it's happening.” One traumatised victim said: “The squirrel didn’t care, it just wanted something - it wanted blood.”

Man changes name to Celine Dion

A man, formerly known as Thomas Dodd, has changed his name to Celine Dion after watching one of the Canadian singer’s concerts on YouTube over Christmas. “I’m a bit of a Celine Dione superfan and obviously just thought this would be hilarious – but my mum doesn’t think so.” said the 30-year-old. “She wasn’t best pleased.”

Tuna goes for 20m yen at Tokyo auction

A bluefin tuna sold for 20.8 million yen (£150,000) in the first auction of the new year at Tokyo’s Toyosu fish market. Prices in tuna auctions fluctuate wildly in Japan, with a record 333.6 million yen (£2.4m) paid in 2019. The bluefin tuna is a species of tuna in the family Scombridae.
