Horse and trainer banned after meth test
And other stories from the stranger side of life
A trainer and her horse have been banned from racing after methamphetamine was found in both their systems following a race. The drug was found in a test after Be Flexi won its race at a meeting at Otaki, New Zealand, earning its owners a stake of $6,720. Rochelle Lockett received a three-year disqualification from the Racing Integrity Board. She told them she knew she had let everyone in her life down and would do whatever she could to “make it right”.
Kenyan man to marry triplets
A Kenyan man who is preparing to marry three identical triplets has insisted that satisfying their physical needs will be “no big deal”. The sisters revealed that all three of them are set to get married to the same man, named Stevo, in the near future. He said: “I’m a faithful generous man and everything about me comes big, even blessings; that why they call me big man Stevo. I tend to believe that my love was not meant for one girl.”
Davies donates ‘vitriolic’ letter
The writer Hunter Davies has agreed to donate to the British Library a “vitriolic letter” from John Le Carré that ended their friendship. The Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy author attacked the journalist in an “awful” and “mad” note when he took a dislike to an article Davies wrote in the 1990s. Writing in The Sunday Times, Davies said of the letter: “It began ‘Dear Hunter’ and finished ‘Best, David’. But in between he was vitriolic.”
