The i paper also runs with the 'ambush' on Rudd, as she went head-to-head with six opposition leaders, mostly from the left.

The Daily Telegraph leads with figures that a record number of people are now paying the 45p income tax rate due to wage inflation and reductions in pension tax relief.

The Daily Mirror leads with an NHS chief's warning that the Conservatives have left the coffers empty, thereby putting the health services at risk.
