Meanwhile, the Daily Telegraph reports on how attackers Khuram Butt was investigated by MI5 for his extremist views. The "brazen" jihadi even appeared in a Channel 4 documentary about home-grown radicals, it says.

The Times reports that Butt also worked at an all-Muslim gym run by the man accused of training the 7/7 suicide bombers.

"So how did he slip through the net?", asks The Independent's front page, a question also asked by the Daily Star and Daily Mirror.

The Guardian says authorities are already preparing to reexamine the way they look at extremists and potential terrorists in light of the apparent failure to identify the threat posed by Butt.
