Manchester United have won the race for Erling Braut Haaland, reports The Sun, with the paper claiming that the Red Devils will sign him next month in a £76m deal “before loaning him back to RB Salzburg until the end of the season”.

The pair first met when Solskjaer was in charge of Molde and the Sun says that since becoming manager of United the Norwegian has made his compatriot “his top target”.

Mad for it

Haaland, who has scored 24 goals in 22 appearances this season, is said to be “keen” on joining United and while Salzburg have reluctantly agreed to selling their star asset they are insisting that he must remain with them for the rest of the campaign.

The news will be a devastating blow to German club RB Leipzig, says the Sun, who had an “arrangement with sister club Salzburg where they can buy him for just £20m”.

However, that deal was reliant on Haaland agreeing to the move and the young Norwegian sharpshooter has his heart set on Old Trafford.

That would obviously work in Salzburg’s favour with the Austrian outfit set to scoop four times more in transfer fees with Haaland’s move to England.

Red revolution

The Daily Mirror is also confident that Haaland will soon be a United player, pointing to the photo of him signing a Red Devils shirt.

Admittedly, he did sign some other shirts but the Mirror believes his willingness to put pen to red shirt is proof he is now a United player in all but name.

Apparently Solskjaer flew to Austria last week to clinch the deal and Haaland - who has already visited United’s Carrington training ground - is “keen to be part of Solskjaer’s revolution at Old Trafford”.
